How to use this page
- Drop your photo into the box above. The u.s. visa ds-160 digital photo preset is already loaded.
- (Optional) Crop manually if you need to focus on a specific area of the image before compression. Skip this step if the photo is already framed correctly — the tool will auto-centre-crop.
- Click "Compress to spec". The tool resizes, centre-crops to 1:1, and compresses to land inside the official file-size band.
- Download and submit to your application portal.
Your photo never leaves your device. Compression runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API and a Web Worker. We do not store, log, share, or even see your photos — there is no server-side processing.
What the tool does not check
- You may need to crop the photo to remove background or fit the exact aspect ratio. The tool auto-centre-crops for you, but check the result before submitting
